The World’s 18 Strangest Airports
Last month, Popular Mechanics compiled a list of the world’s 18 “strangest” airports.
While some airports made this list for having a golf course in between two large runways (Bangkok) or for the entire landmass of the airport being larger than an entire neighbouring country (Dammam), most of the airports on this list were chosen for having uniquely positioned short runways often near bodies of water.
Check out the pictures and embedded videos in the article and let us know in the comments below which airport is your favourite.
My favourite is the Juancho E. Yrausquin Airport airport on Saba in the Netherlands Antilles. Check out the video below to see why–watch until the very end to see just how short the runway is.
Blink Jet into London City (LCY/EGLC)
Blink jet G-FBKA recently flew into London City (LCY/EGLC), landing from the west and flying directly over Canary Wharf, before taking off again to the east. Thanks to Captain Martin Lewis for these photos.
Landing and Takeoff at Lugano Airport
Earlier this winter, a Blink jet flew into Lugano Airport (LSZA/LUG) in Switzerland. We were able to capture some fantastic pictures of the approach and takeoff.
Thanks to Captain Martin Lewis for these pictures. If you enjoy this, be sure to check out Blink’s other photos and videos.
Flying above the clouds
A short video (nineteen seconds, to be exact) of one of our Blink jets skimming the clouds on an approach into London Heathrow (LHR/EGLL).

Blink Cessna Mustang Approach & Landing into Guernsey (GCI/EGJB)
A smooth approach and landing onto Runway 27 at Guernsey Airport (GCI/EGJB) at sunset.

A silent slideshow: Blink, our fleet of Cessna Mustangs, and the onboard experience
This is a 3 minute slideshow I created to play as background imagery at a recent event. It includes many of the photos you’ve seen on our website, including shots of our jets at Farnborough Airport (FAB/EGLF), pictures of the Blink fleet of Cessna Citation Mustangs, and images of the inside of our spacious 4-seat cabin.
Note: There is no sound, so yes, your computer speakers are working fine.
If you enjoy this, be sure to check out Blink’s other photos and videos.
Approach and Landing into London Heathrow (LHR/EGLL)
It’s not that often that we fly into London Heathrow (LHR/EGLL). While the airport is close to central London, landing fees are expensive. But it does happen occasionally and luckily we had a Blink staff member onboard this repositioning flight to take some pictures and video as the jet skimmed the clouds on the approach, before looking out over grey London (and Wembley Stadium).
If you enjoy this, be sure to check out Blink’s other photos and videos.
Blink, and you’re on Wikipedia
Blink is now on Wikipedia!
Of course, there has been a Wikipedia page for Blink (“Blinking is the rapid closing and opening of the eyelid”) prior to the founding of Blink, the air taxi service. But, you can now read about us, the airline, amongst pages on Blink (the book), Blink-182 (the band), and a handful of other items named Blink.
You may also be interested in this page on the Cessna Citation Mustang, the Blink jet.
The information in Wikipedia is not always up-to-date or completely accurate, so we recommend coming here, to the Blink website and blog, for the latest news. However, we will continue to expand our Wikipedia page overtime and if you’d like to help, please let us know.
